Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance2 Starter DCC control set |
£264.95 £238.45 |
|
|
|
(Gaugemaster) |
| PRODIGY ADVANCE2 consists of three elements. The POWER PACK transforms the power from your mains socket ready for the Base Unit. The BASE UNIT is the brains behind the operation. It contains all the technology you need to send DCC commands to your trains and accessories. However, short of turning the power on and off, you'll find your closest companion is the Walkaround controller which plugs straight into the Base Unit. The WALKAROUND is a hand-held controller that you use to send your commands to the Base Unit, which then sends them on to the relevant decoder on your layout. You control the speed and direction of your trains from here. One of the key features of DCC operation is that each of your locomotives has a numeric address which you select as and when you want to run that locomotive. DCC allows you to run it anywhere on your railway at the same time as other trains are moving as well. You can operate points (individually or route set) and signals from the Walkaround. You can use it to programme your decoders to replicate the running characteristics of your locomotives, or even introduce a speed clock that allows you to run a 24 hour timetable within one operating session. The possibilities are almost endless with DCC and with locomotives becoming available with factory-fitted decoders as standard, we are entering an exciting new era. Of course, you can also retro-fit your older locomotives with decoders if you wish.

Hornby 'Elite' twin DCC control system |
£199.99 £179.99 |
|
|
|
(Hornby) |
| Twin control with press switch functions, 17 button keyboard, wide function LCD screen display and a 4 amp transformer plus the capabilities of registering 254 locomotive addresses as well as 255 accessory addresses, and that includes point control. Also there is a USB portal for linking to a computer and the internet! Ideal for any upgrade packages that become available. The Hornby ‘Elite’ is quite literally designed for the model layout that demands more control. Now this is the way to run a railway!
The Hornby ‘Elite’ - Simple to understand, simple to use and designed for not only today but for the digital developments of tomorrow.
Keypad
The 17 button keypad includes not only buttons 0 - 9 keys which are alpha numeric, but other keys marked ‘Locomotive’, ‘Accessory’, ‘Function’, ‘Lights’, ‘Menu’, ‘Escape’ and of course ‘Stop!’ These multi-function keys provide the basis for the programming and functioning of up to 254 locomotives and 255 accessories including points.
The keypad has the capability of entering into the unit’s memory the names and numbers of locomotives and accessories as well as inputting the various functions that the Hornby ‘Elite’ offers.
LCD Display
The liquid crystal display centred on the 'Elite' has 2 rows of 8 characters, train direction indicators, a speed indicator and a set of 13 numbers which are 0 - 12 and these will show the various functions that are switched on in respect of locomotives or accessories under direct control. A clock is also included on the display which can be set to real time or can be set up to 10X faster. Working with the Rotary Controls the display will be able to keep the operator fully up to date with the functioning’s of the ‘Elite’.
Power
The ‘Elite’ is supplied with a 4 amp transformer. 3 amps are passed directly to the tracks and 1amp is for separately wired Accessories, therefore the ‘Elite’ is capable of providing enough power to run at any one time approximately 10 locomotives depending on how power efficient the locomotives are.
Rotary Control
The Hornby ‘Elite’ Digital Unit incorporates two rotary controllers which not only control the assigned locomotives but also assist in registering each model and accessory to the ‘Elite’. The controls are able to do this by a simple click and turn procedure.
This method is also employed to add names to the ‘Elite’s’ display so that in place of locomotives being identified with just a number, abbreviated names can be used.
The pressing of the Rotary Controls not only determines which controller has control, but also the direction of the locomotive’s travel. This process is also used to activate a point motor. These are just a sample of some of the functions that are associated with the Rotary Controllers; however they do go to illustrate the highly technical advances that the Hornby Digital ‘Elite’ offers to the keen railway modeller.

Decoder testing station |
£37.65 |
|
|
|
(ESU) |
| Imagine this situation; in front of you there is a digital decoder on the workbench, and before you undertake its complicated installation into a loco, you would like to know if the decoder works as advertised, how do you test it? The Profi-Tester helps you: it’s designed for testing decoders before installation into a loco. The Profi-Tester is simply hooked up to your digital central station, or the LokProgrammer.
Configuration
To make this as simple as possibe, the Profi-Tester comes with useful features: to connect the decoder, there is a 6-wire NEM 651 harness and an 8-wire NEM 652 interface, as well as a 21-pin mtc-interface available. Plug it on – bingo! Locos without an interface board can be hooked up with 'croc-clips'. A high quality, 5 pole skewed armature can motor with flywheel serves to check the motor output: It’s simple to test the slow and constant speed characteristics of your decoder. A LED-monitor informs you about the function of the front and rear light output, as well as function outputs AUX 1 (green), and AUX 2 (violet). A 20 mm loud speaker is included for testing LokSound-Decoders. A screw terminal assures safe connection between your Profi-Tester and the digital central station or LokProgrammer. |

ESU 21-pin adapter plate |
£8.60 |
|
|
|
(ESU) |
| The 21 MTC adapter board is suitable for digitising a loco without interface and when installed allows the option of removing the decoder easily.
The adapter board offers a possibility for installing a decoder with 21MTC connector. This decoder is simply plugged onto the board. At the other end 21 annular rings make the clean wiring of your loco possible. A neat conversion can be made via this adapter board and enables you to use all additional functions of the 21MTC connector (e.g. loud speaker outputs).

ESU 21-pin adapter board 2 with Aux3 and Aux4 |
£12.90 |
|
|
|
(ESU) |
| The 21 MTC adapter board 2 is also suitable for digitising a loco without interface. It is very helpful, if you do not intend to wire the decoder freely or if you wish to use more than four function outputs on your LokPilot or LokSound decoder.
Decoders with 21MTC connectors (ESU LokPilot or LokSound favoured) are simply plugged onto the adapter board.
On the output side, the adapter offers already soldered cables (appr. 20cm length, not shown in photo) for all contacts needed. There are amplifiers (appr. 250mA each) for function AUX3 and AUX4 (the decoder´s logical outputs) so that ESU decoders have up to 6 available physical function outputs.
