The class 67 may not have the character of the earlier 'classic' diesel classes but its unique sounds have been well captured here.

The class 70 loco has a unique random sound which has been captured on this decoder and is prototypically heard at random. The sound is that of the ‘Skip Fire’ which is a computerised engine self-checking system; being computer controlled this feature cuts in at random on the real loco when both stationary or in motion. This is only operational in stationary mode on this decoder due to the limitations of the sound decoder. Other random sounds include the sound of the air release dump valve followed by the compressor cutting-in and the random sound of the sander which is operational when the loco is in motion. All these features help to make your DCC class 70 model interesting to operate.
Due to the restricted space inside the Bachmann class 70 it may benefit by fitting the rectangular, 20 x 40mm speaker, reference 50334.

March 2011 - new V4.0 decoder.
This decoder has been designed so that you can run your model in diesel mode and also, with limited capability, in 3rd rail electric mode; all of our sound recordings for this decoder are courtesy of GBRf who supplied the loco!
To run it as a diesel F1 start/ stops the sound as normal and the loco runs conventionally with all the normal functions and random compressor sounds.
To run it as an electric, when stationary press F1 to switch off the engine, just as the ‘chhhh’ noise is heard press F7, the fan noise will then start up and continue until you press it again, the loco can now be run as it would on 3rd rail pickup. The operator can switch the fan on and off whilst controlling the locos speed. The fan noise can be started when the loco is in acceleration and picking up current, then switching off as it decelerates as per the prototype.
The random compressor noise will not work in 3rd rail pickup mode as it needs F1 to be on, so F5 allows the operator to run the compressor, again it is latched and will continue until F5 is pressed again.
Unfortunately pressing F1 whilst in motion will not start or stop the engine on the ‘fly’ as can be done on the prototype, it will cut straight in or out as if the engine was on full throttle, this is due to the nature of the decoder sound files structure. A smooth switchover has to be done whilst the loco is stationary, the decoder is not designed to provide sound operation for a dual operating system such as is the 73.
When running the 73 in electric mode the Function keys for the horns, compressor, flange squeal, guards whistle short and long and flash sounds from the pickup shoe can all be played. The flash settings are linked in the sound file to Aux 1 so if a blue LED is fitted to the pickup shoe and wired to the aux 1 wire from the decoder it will flicker when the F10 and 11 buttons are operated.

Our first 'sparky' project to liven up your Heljan or Hornby 86. Not perhaps with the character of some of the diesel classes but well received!

This is the 'original' Paxman Valenta powered HST, now all but disappeared from the 'real' railway as they have been replaced with MTU units.
Produced with the kind co-operation of Network Rail using sounds of the Valenta engines recorded on the NMT.
With the later Hornby models you can fit sound decoders in both 'power' cars. As there is no motor in one car this will 'react' slightly slower than the other powered car, which is actually fairly prototypical! Alternatively if you are fitting one sound decoder, you will need a second, motor function decoder to control the light functions.

As there is very little authentic sound of the Blue Pullman on record, this project has been carefully created based on what can be regarded as the genuine, not dubbed recordings. The horns are produced to replicate the pitch and sound of the prototype, the F10 horn being a tribute to the double one heard on old archive footage. As this train ran primarily ran between London and Manchester the station announcements have been created using the correct departure timings for those stations, noting in the interest of authenticity, that in those days there was no such thing as a 24 clock announcement!!.
The decoders are supplied as forward (Car A)driving and rear (Car F) trailing. The horn sounds have been made directional so they are only played from the lead power car. Pressing F2 and 3 at the same time plays both tones together, this practice was apparently used as by the driver as an emergency warning, pressing F2 and 3 together again stops the two horns. F19 is a 4 step volume control and mute, by repeated pressing of the function button the operator can set the level they wish, F21 is a fade up/down control which is set at 25% on fade down, useful for entering or leaving the display area of a layout, the minimum level can be changed by the operator by altering the value of CV133, values are 0 min 128 max, the default is set at 32 (25%).
Please note that when installing into the Bachmann Blue Pullman model it is advisable to use the 20 x 40mm speaker - reference 50334.

And now for something completely different! What started out as a bit of an experiment developed into this version designed for use with the Heljan container crane. This will certainly add that extra dimension to your container terminal operations!

Recorded thanks to the North Norfolk Railway, this adds a new dimension to the Heljan railbus.
We recommend replacing the standard 23mm round speaker supplied with the decoder, with the rectangular speaker (50334), which can be made to fit in the passenger compartment. Some of the seats need to be cut down to accommodate it and you can cut open some window hoppers to allow more sound out if required.

This useful product can be used when fixing speakers into locomotives. Where there is insufficient room to accomodate both speaker and baffle box, the baffle box can be dispensed with, and a 'doughnut' made up using this tape to hold the speaker in position.

The ESU Power Pack can be optionally connected to all LokPilot V4.0, LokPilot micro V4.0, LokSound V4.0 and LokSound micro V4.0 decoders and supplies your locomotive reliably with power to get over dirty tracks and longer switch crossings.

Sound, light and motor functions are buffered and thus enable your model to run up to 3 seconds without power, depending on the model´s power consumption.

The Power Pack has an integrated charging current which is controlled by the decoder. Therefore it can remain within the loco while it gets programmed. The load current is however, limited to avoid an excessive load on your booster, for this case there would be, several models in operation.

The buffer time can be restricted by writing a CV on the decoder side to make red signals lead to an exact signal stop.

The size of the Power Pack is approx. 22 x 10 x 8 mm which has to be considered during the installation.

A 3-pin cable connection between the decoder and the Power Pack is essential.
